The first annual Alpha Phi Omega Alumni Association of British Columbia golf tournament kicked off with a resounding success at Sunshine Woods Golf Centre in Delta, BC on September 12, 2009. Avid golfers from the Lower Mainland, in their show of support for a worthy cause, participated in this initial fundraising golf competition sponsored by APOAABC here in BC.
Nestor Navacero of Vancouver and Richmond’s Jefferson Sy both registered the lowest gross score of 56, two over par 54. However, a tie-breaker based on the most birdies holed was conducted, and Navarro (three birdies) emerged as champion and Sy (two birdies) was declared runner-up. First and second place winners for lowest net scores were awarded to Eddie Humirang of Surrey and Narcing Pacheco of Delta with scores of 46 and 48, respectively.
Other winners are the foursome of Ed Arguelles, Lito Subion, Narcing Pacheco and Roby Cabuay, with lowest net score of 210. The flight composed of alfredo Moreno, Allan Moreno, Jun Arce, and Nestor Navacero registered the lowest gross of 248. A consolation prize was awarded to the group of Flor Gatchalian, Joe Mejia, Rene Bahema, and Wayne Aure who posted the highest gross score of 277.
Individual winners include: Closest to the Pin Contest – Shania Ramandaban (Hole 1), Nestor Manansala (Hole 3), Bernie Julve (Hole 9), Edddie Humirang (hole 10), Mario Gartchitorena (Hole 11),, and Krishna Alluri (Hole 18); Early Bird – Lorenzo Teng; First Paid Registrant = Rolando Ayroso; and Best Dressed Golfers – Bernie Julve and Joey Mendoza.
