The Alpha Phi Omega Alumni Association of San Diego was formally organized in December 11, 1993 in Eastlake, Chula Vista with 15 pioneer members. Although 1975, a group of brothers who were military personnel namely: Abraham "Abe" Tan, Danilo De La Cruz, Angel Pangilinan, Carlos "Caloy" Pamplona, etc. tried to get together in what we call fellowship gatherings. However, due to military duties and lack of membership, they were not able to function as an organization.
In 1993, after some trips to the then APO Alumni Association of Southern California, Bro. Raymond Quicho, Gamma Pi Chapter, Gordon Gordo, Gamma Psi Chapter and Edith Gordo, Gamma Pi Chapter decided to organize an APO alumni group in San Diego. With the support of the then APOAASC President Bobbitte Picazo and Bro. Art Rivera, Past President and some advise from Bro. Mel Gonzales of APOAANC & Bro. Bert Movilla, bros. Raymund, Gordon & Sis Edith placed an advertisement in the local newspapers and much to their surprise, brothers and sisters all over San Diego responded and calls began to pour in. Shortly thereafter, on December 11, 1993, APOAA San Diego had its first fellowship meeting in EastLake Chula Vista, San Diego County.

The APOAASD is a community service and family oriented alumni association. It has grown to over 70 members and continues to expand as APO alumni become aware of the APOAASD existence. About 30 % of APOAASD members are connected with the military service in active or retired status. Its members are dedicated to the three cardinal principles of APO: Leadership, Friendship and Service. Every year since 1994, APOAASD has consistently supported its community through various community services. All its accomplishments were achieved with the support and cooperation of the wonderful APO families who are equally dedicated to achieving and upholding the mission and values of Alpha Phi Omega.
